(1) This happens when the SDRAM is set to higher than 120 in the "CPU HOST/SDRAM/PCI Clock" option.

(1) This situation occurs when there is a difference between the DIMM memory module and the Frame Buffer Cache Module. In the case of WinFast ADIMM-128, a SDRAM type of WinFast ADIMM-128 is required if your DIMM memory module is of SDRAM type. Otherwise a VCM type of WinFast ADIMM-128 is required if your DIMM memory module is of VCM type.  

(2) Boot up your system and then press "Del" key to enter the "CMOS Setup Utility" menu. The number of MBytes for WinFast ADIMM-128 is displayed in "Extend Graphics Memory" -> "Integrated Peripherals". If it is 0 (zero) MByte, you have to re-install ADIMM-128. Make sure the connection is working well between ADIMM-128 and your mainboard. Then reboot your system.  

(3) Make sure the "System Share Memory Size" is in accordance with the "Extend Graphics Memory" of the "Integrated Peripherals". For example: If the size of the "Extend Graphics Memory" is 8 MB, the size of "System Share Memory Size" should be 8+8 MB.  

(4) Return to "CMOS Setup Utility" menu and then choose "Save & Exit Setup". 

(1) Set up the refresh rate to more than 120 Hz in the "Display Modes" under "Display Properties".  

(2) Enter "Stereo" tab in "3D Settings" option under "Display Properties" menu, and then adjust the "Stereo scale" and "Stereo offset" to its best values.  

(3) Synchronize stereo screen and stereo glasses with "Hotkey 1" as defined in the "Stereo" tab of "3D Settings" -> "Display Properties". 

(1) Your operating system must comply with the ACPI.  

(2) Enable "ACPI Function" in the "Power Management Setup" option of "CMOS Setup Utility" menu.  

(3) Choose "S3 (STR)" in "ACPI Suspend Type" under "Power Management Setup" menu.  

(4) Run "ZVHDD.EXE C file" under DOS mode. This file can be found in the "STD" directory of the WinFast Software Pack CD. Reboot your system.  

(5) Enter Windows operating system and then go to "My computer" -> "Control Panel" ->"Power Manager"-> "Hibernate". Click "Enable hibernate support".  

(6) Return to "Power Manager" and then click the "Advanced" tab. Select "Hibernate" in the option "When I press the power button on my computer". Choose "Hibernate" again in the option "When I press the sleep button on my computer". 

You have to adjust three setting items as follows: 

(1) Enter "Main Menu" of the "CMOS Setup Utility" menu. Select "Advanced Chipset Features" and then choose "Manual" in the "Auto Configuration" submenu.  

(2) Return to "Main Menu" and Select "Advanced Chipset Features". In the "Early CKE Delay 1T Cntrl", choose either "Normal" or "Delay 1T" mode for your device.  

(3) Return to "Advanced Chipset Features" menu. Choose a suitable mode between 1ns to 8ns for your device. 

Make sure your hardware supports the DMA device. The hardware device data appears on the screen during boot up. Press "Pause Break" key to read it. If it displays "LRG, PIO 4" in the "Pri, Master Disk" option, this means your hardware doesn't support the DMA device. Change the setting to PIO mode. 

(1) Enter Windows 2000 operating system. Press "F8" key to enter safe mode. Then go to "My Computer" \"Properties" \"Hardware" \"Device Manager" \"IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers" \"Primary IDE Channel" \"Advanced Settings" \"Transfer mode" option.  

(2) Choose "PIO Only" in the "Transfer Mode". Click "OK" button. Click "Yes" to reboot the system. 

(1) Make sure that your hard drive supports Ultra ATA/66 hard drive.  

(2) Connect mainboard and hard drive with the IDE cable (with 40 and 80 pin conductor).  

(3) Click on "My Computer" ->"Control Panel" -> "System Properties" \"Device Manager" -> "Disk drives". Select "IDE DISK" and then click on "Properties". A window then appears. Click on the "Settings" tab to enable "DMA" in the "Options" menu. Finally, click "OK" to complete.

(1) Turn on your PC and then press "Del" key to enter the "CMOS Setup Utility" menu. Choose "Enabled" in the "SiS-7013 S/W modem" under "Integrated Peripherals" -> " CMOS Setup Utility" menu.  

(2) Return to Windows operating system. Click on "My Computer" -> "Control Panel" -> "Add New Hardware". Install the AMR device by following the instructions on the screen. 

(1) If an ARM device hasn't been installed into your system yet, choose "Disabled" in the "SiS-7013 S/W modem" menu under "Integrated Peripherals" -> "CMOS Setup Utility".  

(2) Otherwise install the AMR device driver provided by the manufacturer for installation of AMR device.

Release the power button immediately after pushing down the power button. Your system won't get powered off if you keep pressing the power button. When you select the "Delay 4 Sec" option in "Power Button Over Ride" menu, press the power button for more than 4 seconds to power off your computer. The system is in "Sleep Mode" when the power button is pressed for less than 4 seconds.

When SDRAM clock is set below 66 MHz, the figure "66MHz" is shown. When it is set between 66 and 100 MHz, the figure shown is "83 MHz". When it is set between 100 and 133 MHz, the figure "100 MHz" is shown. When it is set between 133 and 166 MHz,the figure shown will be "133 MHz".

Yes, you can add another add-on PCI VGA card. For example: use the WinFast6300MAX mainboard on your PC under Windows 98 and install the WinFast S320II PCI Card. Please follow the installations below: (1) Before installing WinFast S320II PCI Card, make sure all drivers are installed successfully - both the on-board and add-on card drivers. (2) Choose "PCI Slot" in "Init Display First" -> "Integrated Peripherals" -> "CMOS Setup Utility" menu. (3) Turn off your PC. Locate the WinFast S320II PCI Card on the ADIMM slot, and then connect the VGA port to your monitor. (4) Boot up your system. Enter the Windows operating system. When the message "Add New Hardware Wizard" is displayed, your system will detect the "Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA)" device. Click on "Next" to continue. (5) When message "Update Device Driver Wizard" is displayed on the screen, select "Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want" and click "Next" to continue. Please download the latest BIOS from Leadtek's website and update the BIOS on your motherboard using AWDFLASH with /CC/CD parameters added. Restart your computer and input your MAC address in "SiS-900 MAC Address input" -> "Integrated Peripherals" menu in CMOS SETUP (MAC Address is printed on the label attached to the motherboard). The command is as follows: AWDFLASH 5330XXXX.BIN /CC/CD AWDFLASH 5330XXXX.BIN/CC/CD AWDFLASH 5330XXXX.BIN/CC/CD AWDFLASH 5330XXXX.BIN/CC/CD.

To install an AGP display adapter, please follow the steps below:  

Step 1: Push the clip at the end of AGP slot.  

Step 2: Position the card horizontally over the AGP slot. Do not tilt the card. Insert the bus connector in the slot and gently press the bus connector down.  

Step 3: Push the clip back to close it.

Three settings need to be adjusted as follows:

This situation occurs when you tried to shorten the pin connectors for less than 3 seconds while clearing the CMOS. We suggest that you re-clear it by shortening the connectors for more than 3 seconds.

After pressing down the power button, release the power button immediately. When you set the "Power Button Over Ride" to "Delay 4 Sec", press the power button for more than 4 seconds to power off your computer. If you press the power button for less than 4 seconds your system will go to "Sleep Mode".

Make sure the system heat dispersion level was sufficient enough. If not, it will cause BIOS CPU O.T.S (over Temperature Shutdown) function to activate. Generally the default value is set at 65°C. To improve the system heat dispersion capabilities, we suggest that you use a quality fan that can improve the temperature of the operating environment and so expands the electrical supply voltage level, thus provide enough electrical supply to the system. Do not increase the CPU O.T.S temperature limit as this may cause a possible lost in the effectiveness of CPU O.T.S. function.

It is necessary to install the AGP driver under Windows 2000 for optimized performance. The reason why you cannot find the link is that you are using version 3.3 of this CD, in which the link is not directed correctly. Version 3.4 of the software CD has no such problems.To install the AGP driver under Windows 2000 using your CD, run the setup.exe at E:\7300K7\AGP\WIN2000\ , assuming E is your CD-ROM driver.

Intel 815E/815EP chipset supports two PC133 / three PC100 DIMMs.

The LAN driver can not be automatically installed. Install it manually by the following steps: Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager -> Ethernet Controller -> Driver -> Search for a suitable device driver, and specify the path "X:\9100-9200\LAN\98SE(or NT4, W2K)". (X is the letter of the CD-ROM (drive). If any error occurs during installation, please input the driver location again.)

The memory clock is at 100MHz if the CPU uses 66MHz or 100MHz FSB. Only when the CPU uses 133MHz FSB will the memory operate at 133MHz or 100MHz.

WinFast 9100AX/9200AX uses CPU's internal sensor to detect the temperature. Cyrix III can not detect the temperature since it does not have an internal sensor.

To install an AGP display adapter, please follow these steps below:  

Step 1: Push the clip at the end of AGP slot.

The booting up time is longer when the "Onboard LAN Controller" is set as "Enabled". If there is no need to work on the Ethernet, choose "disabled" instead.

First, you need to make sure the CPU fan is connected to the connector on your motherboard. See chapter 2 of your instruction manual to find out the connectors and their positions. Then, if you use the ATX power supply with your computer, go to BIOS setup utility and set the "W/O CPU FAN Power Warning" field as "Disabled". See Chapter 4 of the instruction manuals to see how that is done.

This usually relates to the RAM module compatibility issue. Select the DDR memory Voltage to be either -0.1V or +0.1V in the "X-BIOS II" option in CMOS.

This problem relates to the memory frequency issues. Set the Advanced Chipset Features\Advanced DRAM control1\DDR RAM CAS Latency value as 0.2T in CMOS.

The problem may due to the fact that the display adapters you use does not support ACPI S3. Make sure your display adapter supports ACPI S3.

Step 1: Please go to the "Advanced BIOS Features" submenu in BIOS.  

Step 2: Select "SCSI" from the "First Boot device" setting.  

Step 3: Click on "Save changes and Exit". If your SATA hard disk isn't for booting-up, system will automatically search for the next available boot-up device. 

The Serial ATA controller is not automatically recognized under the Windows 2000/XP installation unless SATA controller driver is installed. The SATA controller drivers need to be available on floppy disks for installation of operating systems. If you possess CDs only, copy the driver files into floppy disks before attempting to install Windows 2000/XP. If you do not know how to copy the drivers into a floppy please download the latest driver from the website :*DRIVER CD(\\Driver\Chipset\Nvidia\SATA\DRIVER) Solution. During Windows setup, you will be prompted to press F6 to "install additional controller drivers". At this point, insert the SATA controller driver floppy diskette and follow the onscreen instructions. When the installation of drivers is completed, users can proceed with Windows installation. 

The performance of the latest NVIDIA nForce 2 chipset in WinFast K7NCR18D FSB400 series is enhanced by its FSB400 interface. There are two reference conditions distinguishing the FSB400 features of Leadtek motherboards.  

Condition 1.--- Printed mark "CR18D" ( Refer to picture -- Note: this refers to WinFast K7NCR18D Pro II series). The term "CR18D" is displayed only when the motherboard has FSB400 features.  

Condition 2.--- Color box. Here is a figure of all WinFast K7NCR18D FSB400 series products:

Please follow the steps below:  

Step 1. Have the power cord unplugged for 10 seconds, then plug it back in.

Step 3: Click on "Save changes and Exit". 

Step 1: Visit Leadtek's website and download the latest BIOS, and make sure the AWDFLASH.EXE is the latest BIOS version.  

Step 2: Make sure that there is no any other TSR (terminate-and-stay-resident) programs under the DOS mode.  

Step 3: Register the following settings: "d:\awdflash xxxxxxx.bin /wb /nvguid:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX".  

Note 1: The NVGU ID is composed of "0001" plus "MAC ID number". eg: Since the MAC ID is "003004123456", the NVGU ID will be "0030040001123456". 

Note 2: You can enter "AWDFLASH/?" under the DOS mode and search for related "AWDFLASH.EXE" argument information.

When crashing of CPU is resulted from overclocking, take following steps to deal with it:

• Step 2: Reboot your computer. Warning: When overclocking occurred, reboot the system from flopply disks instead!
 

First, you should check that the CPU's heat fan works and is ready to connect to the power socket. In addition, the O.T.S. (Over Temperature Shutdown) function will shutdown your system if it is overheated.

 

• Step 1: First Power off the system and then pull off the power cord.
 

• Step 2: After one minute you can plug in the power cord.
 

• Step 3: Press "Insert" before rebooting the mainboard power.The CPU will then turn back to safety status.  
  
  
 

The WinFast K7nCR18D/G (Pro) series motherboards can support Dual-Bank function, so if you use memory boards in DIMM1+DIMM3 or DIMM2+DIMM3, the system performance is maximized.

In order to comfirm that the AGP system is working in 8X mode, please run WinFox2.0 in Windows and then check the Diagnostic LEDs on the A180TDH PCB. The AGP8X LED will be on to indicate that the system is working in AGP8X mode. The Serial ATA controller cannot be automatically recognized under Windows 2000/XP installation. You will need to install drivers for SATA controller prior to installing Windows 2000/XP. If you do not install the SATA controller drivers, Windows will not recognize the SATA drive. The drivers for SATA controller are available on floppy disks during operating system installation process. If you have CDs only, copy the driver into the floppy disks before attempting to install Windows 2000/XP. If you do not know how to copy the drivers into a floppy disk, please download the latest driver from the website.

X-Wall LX is specifically engineered for high speed communications in the disk. X-Wall LX offers a speed over 1.1 Giga bit per second or higher real-time performance to all IDE compatible hard drives. Since X-Wall LX hardware performs all encryption and decryption tasks, memory and interrupt overhead occurred unlikely.

The X-Wall LX requires no device drivers and is independent of all operating systems. An Ultra ATA (Ultra DMA) compliant disk drive is necessary.

A X-Wall LX is dramatically faster than PCMCIA or Smart Card solutions since it encrypts the entire hard drive instead of selected files. There is little possibility that any data or credentials can be left unprotected in the hard drive. Drive lock and boot sector encryption solutions do not encrypt the data and thus making it vulnerable to attack.

DES (Data Encryption Standard) was originally introduced by NSA (National Security Agency) and IBM, and since then it has become a Federal data encryption standard as defined in FIPS 46-3 (Federal Information Processing Standard). DES works on a 64-bit key data segment, of which 8 bits provide parity. This results in an effective length of 56-bit in total. TDES is a variant on DES, in which the plain text is processed three times with two or three different DES secret keys. With only two encryption keys being used, the result is an encryption equivalent to using a 112-bit key. With three keys, the result is an encryption equivalent to using a 168-bit key. In practice, with a 128-bit TDES, the plain text is encrypted with the first key, decrypted with the second key, and then encrypted again with the first key.

Very secure! Both algorithms are completely public, and have been surprisingly resistant to new cryptographic attacks over the last quarter century. Though the 56-bit DES key length is no longer a proof against massive computer attacks, but for most business applications DES remains adequate.

In general, a longer key length will result in a more complicated cipher which can take more time and resources to find the decryption Key. For instance, 240 (a DES 40-bit strength) represents a key space of 1,099,511,627,776 possible combinations. While this number seems massive, it is definitely feasible for a microprocessor or a specially designed ASIC to perform a huge number of calculations necessary to derive the key. Surprisingly, an investment of only about US$10,000 investment in FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) will be able to recover a 40-bit key in 12 minutes. Further, a US$10,000,000 investment in ASIC will be able to recover a 40-bit key in 0.05 second. A government agency that can afford investing US$100,000,000 or more will be able to recover a 40-bit key in a whopping 0.002 second! Thus a 40-bit long cipher barely offers a minimum protection for your confidentiality and privacy. Fortunately the "work factor" increases exponentially as we increase the key length. For example, an increase of one bit in length doubles the key space, so 241 represents key space of 2,199,023,255,552 possible combinations. A 2112-bit TDES cipher is extremely secure(with 5,192,296,858,534,827,628,530,496,329,220,096 possible combinations) that can resist possible attacks for the next 15 to 20 years.  

If the problem is not caused by wiring and internet setting, you need to adjust the particular BIOS setting: Step 1: Please go to "Integrated Peripherals\MAC Lan" from BIOS setup utilities Step 2: Register all twelve digital numbers on the printer port of the motherboard. Please change the model number for monitor in the monitor device setting, or re-install the monitor driver. This is necessary when the DDC data transmission is asynchronous, but without influencing the system stability and efficiency.

Follow the procedures below:  

1) After installing DirectX 9, remove current driver applications from control panel -> Add/Remove program. Do not remove the programs if it is not permitted.  

2) Check under device manager and remove all WinFast TV2000 XP related items.  

3) Leave the driver CD in the CD-ROM drive and then restart the system.  

4) When Windows is booted up, the "Found New Hardware Wizard" window will pop up. Select "Install from a list or specific locations (Advanced)". Remove Video Studio, then re-install the software again. During the installation, you can select the video format to be either PAL or NTSC formats. ( refer to graphic) 

Since the controls of PCI interface are disabled under Windows XP/2000, a new PCI card cannot be installed into your system. Please follow the installation procedures below:  

(1). First remove the unknown devices in the "Device Manager".  

(2). Run "regedit" (for Windows XP) or "reget32" (for Windows 2000) from Start -> Run menu. 

(3). Then check the permission of full controls in  

KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\Controlset001\enum\PCI

There are 3 positions to be changed :  

 

• 1. Controlset001\enum\PCI.  
  
• 2. Controlset002\enum\PCI.  
  
• 3. CurrentControlset\enum\PCI. Then restart your windows and install drivers again.
 

This is caused by the IRQ conflict problems. Please re-arrange your TV2000 XP into another PCI slot, and then adjust the IRQ values of the PCI slot (with TV2000 XP plugged in ) in the CMOS setting. Make sure the values do not share with other devices.

Press "skip" whenever the dialog box is displayed.

1. First, shut down your system and uninstall your TV tuner card.  

2. Separate the cable or FM from the connector.  

 

3. Push the connector back to the tuner cards.  

Graphics Hardware Acceleration and DirectX are disabled by default on a Server configuration to ensure system maximum stability and consistency. You need to enable these functions to use DirectX- enabled applications. The following section will guide you through on how you can do it.  

 

Enabling Graphics Hardware Acceleration  

Let's start with enabling the Hardware acceleration on our graphics card. Simply right click anywhere on your desktop and select Properties -> Settings tab -> Advanced -> and finally, the Troubleshoot tab.  

 

Now maximize the Hardware acceleration to Full.  

 

Click OK.  

 

Note that blackout of screens is normal under this circumstance.  

 

Enabling DirectX  

We now need to enable all capabilities of DirectX. To do this go to Start -> Run -> and type dxdiag followed by enter. You will get a dialog box message asking if you want to allow dxdiag to access the internet and check for valid WHQL certificates. Then click on Yes to continue.  

Click on the Display tab. Now click on all three boxes to enable DirectDraw, Direct3D and AGP Texture Acceleration.

Just the format is created by Microsoft, we can't only capture the video part. 

Since your CPU is not powerful enough so we suggest you select your video setting as "Normal quality" or "Better quality". Right-click the mouse button on the Video display Window to set up the Video Quality.

1. Go to www.divx.com. Download and setup Divx Pro 5.0.x Codec. Finally select "Divx Pro 5.0.x Codec" in the "Video Codec" list and use it as your own MPEG-4 Format Capture Profile. 2. Or go to www.microsoft.com/windows/ to download and setup the MPEG-4 codec. Finally, choose 'MicroSoft MPEG-4 Video Codec" in the "Video Codec" list and use it as your own MPEG-4 Format Capture Profile.

Before you install new Windows, reserve the files and all configurations in the Registry.  

Reserve the following files in the PVR folder:  

WFPRFL.cfg (Capture profile settings)  

WFSCHDL.dat (Schedule settings)  

Winfq.cfg (Frequency table)  

Wincdl.cfg (Customized frequency table)  

Run "regedit.exe" from the Windows "Start" menu, and then export the content in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Leadtek\video (refer to graphic)" to a Registry file, for example, export the "winfast_pvr.reg".  

After you re-intall the new Windows system, just copy and replace these files into a PVR's folder, and execute the Regitry file "winfast_pvr.reg". You can get the same configuration settings as before.  

1. Turn on the computer. Before entering Windows, please press "Delete" to enter BIOS settings.  

(Different motherboards may have different ways to enter BIOS settings.)  

2. Locate "Power" settings, then "APM Configuration".  

 

3. After entering APM Configuration page, please change "Power On By PCI Devices" setting to "Enabled".  

 

 

4. Save the changes and restart the computer.  

 

5. "Power" button: Turn the computer on/off.  

"TV" button: When the computer is on, pressing the button will launch WinFast PVR2 application. When the computer is off, pressing the button will turn on the computer and launch WinFast PVR2 application.  

"FM" button: When the computer is on, pressing the button will launch WinFast FM. When the computer is off, pressing will turn on the computer and launch WinFast FM.  

"DVD" button: When the computer is on, pressing the button will launch Power DVD. When the computer is off, pressing the button will turn on the computer and launch Power DVD.  

6. When WinFast PVR2/WinFast FM/Power DVD is on, pressing the "Power" button will end the current application.  

7. Pressing "Power" button again, a menu (please see the figure below) will appear for you to choose the function you wish to use.  

 

Note: After turning off the computer, please do not turn the switch of the master power (on the back of the computer) off, or disconnect the power to the computer. Without power supply the "Power" button will not function.

Run the patch file to solve this issue. 

Our WinFast series TV tuner card (including WinFast TV2000XP, TV2000XP Deluxe, TV2000XP Expert, DV2000 and WinFst TV USB II) provides S3/S4 power-up scheduling. Under "Stand-by" or "Hibernate" mode, the computer will automatically wake up for pre-scheduled events.  

All of this can be set up under "TV Schedule Setting". Select "After the task is finished" to have your computer automatically execute your preferred action after the scheduled event is completed. Choose either Stand-by or Hibernate mode. Your computer will turn on for next scheduled event under these two modes. For setting up S3/S4 refer to the document .

Install WinFast DVD that are included with the CD-ROM. Then you can playback captured files using the Media player.

This is generally caused by IRQ conflict problems. Remove all add-on cards from your mother board. Leave only the graphics card and TV2000 XP on your motherboard. Then install other cards one by one. Make sure none of your PCI cards share the same IRQs with your TV2000XP. TV2000 XP needs an isolated and independent IRQ. (You can assign the IRQ value of your PCI slot in the CMOS setting of the motherboard.)

RFC requires the RTP port to be even numbers and the next RTP port to be RTCP port numbers (an odd number). So the ATA always forces the RTP port to even numbers. If you select 8005 it will use both 8006(RTP) and 8007(RTCP). 

If the software upgrading process is incomplete then in the worst case the application will no more function properly. However, the downloading process is active when the system is turned on again after upgrade has failed. As long as you enter the BVA downloading webpage, you can redo the upgrading process from there.  

Some service providers automatically upgrade the firmware everytime you power on the BVA. When doing so, since it takes longer than usual for the BVA to complete the upgrade process and start working again, you might hastily interrupt the process. When this happens, contact your service provider and try the "HTTP Download Method" on the BVA setup webpage manually. So upgrade for BVA is still possible.  

Kindly contact your service provider for assitance if the BVA has been obtained from your service provider. However, in general, the APS is using tftp protocol to inquire for configuration files. If your BVA is behind a router, there might be chances that your router does not support tftp. The router needs to be tftp-aware since it has to know where to direct the UDP stream from the service providers, and the right port has to be open. Please check whether your router supports tftp or not. 

BVA's AEC (Automatic Echo Cancellation) is the function to eliminate echoes. Check if your AEC is turned off. The AEC setting in SIP menu can be adjusted. It is recommended that you keep the AEC setting always "on" since the propagation delay over internet is greater than the traditional phone line, and therefore echo is easily noticed. If the other caller hears echoes after you turned on the AEC, you might want to try another phone set, since BVA is designed to work with telephone set in USA. The phone resistance is at 600 ohms. Some phone set might not be designed for this specifications, as mismatch in resistance echoes might result in echoes. 

This is caused by NAT/firewall problems. Refer to question "Why can calls be made but not received?" for more descriptions on NAT and STUN. 

The reason behind this is that some cordless phone generate DTMF tone from base station and via the analog line. This way the DTMF is sometime distorted to a degree which is not tolerable by BVA. The cordless phones provide various ways to send out the DTMF tone. Look for keywords like "dialing information", "dial tone transmission", "in-band/out-of-band signaling", "dialing: audio/data"…etc. Try to change the mode to enable base station generating DTMF tone just like the normal telephone set.

All SIP devices have to register with a SIP proxy before we can direct calls to or from it. The registration process allows your device to find other devices on the SIP network or vice versa - for other SIP users to contact you. Common registration problem encountered by the SIP device is generally caused by routers/firewalls that are blocking the SIP traffic. To find out if the device is registered online with AR15 or a higher version of firmware application is used, check with the “PHONE” LED on the front panel. If the Phone LED keeps flashing regardless of the phone set being onhook or offhook, the BVA is not registered. Another way to check is that the IP dial tone is not heard if the phone is not registered. Of course, this does not affect your access to the landline (for 8051S/D). Some service providers provide online personal portals to enable subscribers to check their registration status. Contact your service provider for details.

This is a bug that has been fixed in AR15H and later firmware versions. Please upgrade your system to the newest firmware.

Users need to open the following ports "3478 (STUN)", "69 (TFTP port for APS)", "5060 (SIP)", "8002 (RTP)" and "8003 (RTCP)". If you change line SIP port or base RTP port, you need to open the corrsponding SIP, RTP and RTCP ports. If RTP and SIP port numbers are randomized, you will have difficulty knowing which ports needs to be open. In general, the random SIP port number lies between 5001-7998; the random RTP port is an even number between 8000-9998 (RTCP is the next number of RTP). You can also use a traffic sniff program, such as "ethereal", to find out the exact port number that it uses. These information pretty much gives you an idea of which ports need to be open for firewall.

Open any ports on a router or enabling DMZ mode makes the router and DMZ available to internet scanners. The scanner finds a list of “in-use” addresses to use later in a more aggressive attack: If the information is useful attackers can somehow trick the DMZ unit into accessing another device, or giving out information on other systems/addresses behind the NAT.  

Why would an attacker bother to characterize an unknown non-PC type device to exploit its vulnerabilities?  

A few randomly placed ATA/videophones are probably not worth hacking when there’s plenty of other users with incorrectly configured standard routers, or unprotected PCs. If the distribution is more dense then it's prone to hackers.  

Check if both units are behind the same NAT router. In some router implementations, the router does not correctly forward the packet from the public interface to private interface. For example, both units (unit A uses private IP address 192.168.1.100, media port 9000 and unit B with private IP address 192.168.1.101, media port 9002) are behind the same router (with IP address 10.215.11.44) and use STUN. When unit A wanted to make a call to unit B, A would send media packet to address 10.215.11.44:9002. If the router does not forward the packets to unit B's private address 192.168.1.101:9002, the media stream can't pass through.  

Solution : Change the router settings so that the router opens the media port (usually in the range of 8000-9984) to the ATA. (Many routers have“port forwarding”or“port triggering”options to forward traffic on the port to the ATA behind the router. Check your router documents for furter details.  

Dealing with NAT traversal is not easy. However, we have solutions to deal with all 4 NAT types: Full cone, restricted NAT, port restricted NAT and symmetric NAT.  

In order to traverse NAT you need to know your router's NAT type first. Use a computer to run the WINSTUN program. This will do a basic STUN check to a STUN server on the internet (by default it uses "larry.gloo.net", but it can be changed).  

Note:  

(1) there are some routers that are applicable to STUN router.  

(2) what has been tested is the entire router from endpoint to server - if one STUN is traversable but not the other, then overall the router is non-STUN friendly.  

The first 3 NAT types can be resolved using STUN server. In your web configuration, enable STUN and input an appropriate STUN server address. Select "Use STUN for SDP media address and port". Reboot your ATA for changes to be taken effectively.  

The most tricky one is symmetric NAT. We solve symmetric NAT by using RTP relay function. In order to use RTP relay make sure: 1) your SIP server supports it; 2) disable STUN. In the web configuration, change SIP server to a server that supports RTP relay (ie. an outbound proxy server); disable STUN. Reboot your ATA for changes to be effective.  

STUN only works with non-symmetric NATs so most of the household routers have non-symmatric NAT. Configure your phone to the STUN setting if your configuration is STUN-friendly. The media stream mode is "peer-to-peer" which will result in less efficiency.

To do this enter the Download mode: unplug the power supply and PSTN line (if you're using it). Leave the handset offhook, press and hold the reset button while plugging in the power supply. As soon as the power LED starts flashing fast, immediately let go of the reset button (don't wait for the pairs to flash). You should hear a beep on the telephone handset. Dial 1# and hangup the phone. You can now connect to the unit using a web browser and download the correct code.

If the BVA is connected to the router, the IP address can be founc from router's webpage. However, if you don't have access to router's webpage, you can run a small software called“VoIP Device Auto-Discovery”which can be downloaded from Leadtek's website. The PC running the software utility has to be in the same subnet as the BVA. Once the software is installed by its IP address and MAC ID, you can click on the entry and go directly to the webpage of BVA.

This can be caused by the NAT (Network Address Translation) operation. Multiples of "private" IP addresses are provided by the router to various devices on your network/LAN, but in public internet, a public IP address is required for connecting devices. This is done most commonly by mapping PRIVATE IP to PUBLIC IP address/port. Packet for PUBLIC IP will be sent to PRIVATE IP packet, and packets originating from PRIVATE IP is treated as PUBLIC IP. Note that IP address for public port is required for the SIP device. Make sure BVA uses STUN server and is STUN-enabled. Ask your service provider for IP address or FQDN of the STUN server, and their corresponding ports. In order to overcome the NAT operation some service provider uses STUN server instead. Consult your provider for detailed information.

This might be caused by many different reasons. You might want to first check at the basics:  

1. Check if your network works.  

The best way is to visit the webpage of the BVA if you know its IP address. If your BVA is connected to the router and the DHCP is turned on (in most of the units the DHCP is turned on), you should be able to find out the IP address through the router. Normally on the webpages of the routers it will list all information connected to the devices. You can use the MAC ID of the BVA as a clue to locate its IP address. Once you know the address, you can use the same PC which is connected to the router to browse the webpage of the BVA by entering its IP address. If you can access the webpage of BVA, it is correctly connected.  

2. Check if your BVA can access the internet.  

Just because your BVA's webpage can be seen it does not mean the router is properly setup at WAN side. There are several ways to verify that. Firstly, the webpages of the router should tell you if the WAN connection is OK. There are several different ways in WAN connections. The most common ones are via DHCP in the case of connecting to Cable Modem, or via PPPoE in the case of connecting to DSL Modem. Whichever case the WAN is, the connection status should be shown somewhere in the router's webpages. Secondly, as an indirect indication, the fact that your PC uses the same router for browsing on the internet also helps explain that the router works properly.  

3. Check if you are registered on the SIP proxy.  

Check if the User Name, Password, Phone Number, Proxy Server address and port are correct. Some service providers allow you to check if you are on-line via your portals.

You need to reset the BVA to activate the changes and restart the application. To do this, go to the "Reset" menu page and choose "Reset and execute main application". The system will then restarted and the changes you made are activated.

Check if you can find the IP address in the DHCP table of the router of which the BVA is connected to. The MAC ID at the bottom of the unit can be used to find it. If you have absolutely no clue of what to look for in the unit, you can always resort to the restoration of factory default as instructed in the user's manual or quick guide. You can also use the telephone set to input a fixed IP address. Also, unlike BVA8051S/SL, BVA8051D/DL has a downstream Ethernet port which you can use to connect a PC and check BVA's IP address as of 192.168.1.1.

The 2wire home dsl router has difficulties working with SIP adapters. Follow the directions below for details:  

Initially you will need to access your router:  

Inside your router determine the IP address of your ATA by matching up the MAC address at the bottom of your sip device. For example " 00300404e811". Inside your 2wire dsl modem, it will link to an IP address 172.16.0.38.  

The next step is to open a new browser window (by pressing "Ctrl + N") and enter http://172.16.0.38 , which is the IP address of your ATA.  

Inside your ATA select "LAN -> LAN Settings". Check the DNS recursion dialog box and click save.  

 

Click reset in the left frame, and make sure to reset the main application.  

Now you will need to select your router configurations and setup port forwarding inside your 2wire modem. Once you are at the main page of your router, click "view firewall settings". Click "edit settings -> computer" and type in the IP address of your ATA.  

You will then need to add three user-defined applications:

Save the firewall settings, and reboot your router.  

This occurs if you have problems communicating between multiple SIP devices within the same intranet, or problems with multiple SIP devices connected but with only one-way audio system working. The problem usually lies in the fact that both SIP devices all use the same RTP (real-time transport protocol) ports.  

If devices behind the same NAT all use the default signaling port (5060) to register to the public network after NAT mappings, it seems that all registration requests come from the same public address and port. The SIP server will have difficulty to identify as to where to return the response.  

 

Solutions: Try to randomize the SIP signaling and RTP port of your units so as to minimize the chance for using the same port. Go to "SIP->SIP->Port settings", and select "Randomize RTP and SIP ports".  

For 8052D LED:

Make sure your analog phone is plugged into the line jack at the back of the ATA.  

If you attempt to dial out using the speed dial function you may experience calls that do not connect. Try to dial the phone number manually.  

 

If your phone is constantly ringing when you connect it to the ATA, you may need to purchase a converter from a local electronics store.  

 

Here are more technical information for the technophiles:  

US systems use biased ringing (70-100V, 20Hz AC superimposed on 48V DC) whereas European systems often use non-biased ringing (70-100V, 17Hz AC). This can be a problem especially for phones using mechanical ringers.  

 

Other difference is that the US phones are 600 ohm which are different to European ones. A mismatch usually results in echoes.

Do you know the difference between GeForce and Quadro cards? People often ask about differences between Quadro and GeForce adapters since they have similar functions but greatly different prices. You might have heard that hackers can modify a GeForce to a Quadro card, and that these cards have very similar performances but with some exceptions: Quadro is the only card meeting all workstation applications while GeForce card is only 95% similar to the Quadro. In most companies the purchased hardware should work for an extended period of time.

Product Line Differences --  

There are notable differences between Quadro and GeForce cards, and a great effort is put into creating the perfect solution for both parties.  

 

Anti-aliased points and lines for wire frame display  

A unique feature of Quadro GPUs is supporting anti-aliased lines in hardware, which has nothing in common with GeForce's full-scene anti-aliasing. It works for lines (but not for shaded polygons) without sacrificing system performance or taking extra video memory for over-sampling. Since this feature is standardized by OpenGL, it is supported by most professional applications.  

 

OpenGL logic operations  

Another unique feature of Quadro GPUs is supporting OpenGL Logical Operations which can be implemented as the last step in the rendering pipeline before contents is written to the frame buffer. For example workstation applications can use this functionality to mark a selection by a simple XOR function. When this function is done in hardware, such significant performance loss as a GeForce adapter would cause will not happen. OpenGL can be used for either consumer or workstation adapters.  

The most common applications for GeForce adapters are full-screen OpenGL games. CAD applications work with OpenGL windows in combination with 2D-elements.  

 

Up to eight clip regions (GeForce supports one)  

A typical workstation application contains 3D and 2D elements. And while view ports display window-based OpenGL function, menus, rollups and frames are still 2D elements. They often overlap each other. Depending on how they are handled by the graphics hardware, overlapping windows may noticeably affect visual quality and graphics performance. When windows are not overlapped, the entire contents of the color buffer can be transferred to the frame buffer in a single, continuous rectangular region. However, if windows do overlap, transfer of data from the color buffer to the frame buffer must be broken into a series of smaller, discontinuous rectangular regions. These rectangular regions are referred to as "clip" regions. 

 

GeForce Hardware supports only one clip region which is sufficient for displaying menus in OpenGL. Quadro GPUs support up to 8 clip regions in hardware, keeping up the performance in normal workflow using CAD/DCC applications.  

 

Hardware accelerated clip planes 

Clip planes allow specific sections of 3D-objects to be displayed so that users can look through the solid objects for visualizing assemblies. For this reason, many professional CAD/DCC applications do provide clip planes. The GPU of the Quadro family supports clip-plane acceleration in hardware - a significant improvement in performance when they are used in professional applications.  

 

Optimization on Memory usage for multiple graphics windows  

Another feature offered by the GPUs of Quadro family is Quadro memory management optimization, which efficiently allocates and shares memory resources between concurrent graphics windows and applications. In many situations, this feature directly affects application performance and offers considerable benefits over consumer-oriented GeForce GPU family.  

The graphics memory is used for frame buffer, textures, caching and data. NVIDIA's unified memory architecture allocates the memory resources dynamically instead of keeping a fixed size for the frame buffer. Instead of wasting the unused frame buffer memory, UMA (Unified Memory Architecture) allows it to be used for other buffers and textures. When applications require more memory from quad-buffered stereo or full scene anti-aliasing, manage resources efficiently has becomre a more important issue.

Support for two-sided lighting  

Quadro hardware supports two-sided lighting. Non-solid objects may display triangles from their "backside" when viewing the objects from the inside. Two-sided lighting prevents the lighting effect from dropping to zero when the object surface normal points away from the lighting source. As a result, these "backward-facing" triangles will remain visible from all possible viewing angles.  

 

Hardware overlay planes  

The user interface of many professional applications often require elements to be interactively drawn on top of a 3D model or scene. The cursor, pop-up menus or dialogs will appear on top of the 3D-viewport. These elements can damage the contents of the covered windows or affect their performance and interactivity.  

 

To avoid this, most professional applications use overlay planes. Overlay planes allow items to be drawn on top of the main graphics window without damaging the contents of the windows underneath. Windows drawn in the overlay plane can contain text, graphics etc - the same as any normal window.  

 

The planes also support the transparency function, which when set allows pixels from underneath the overlayed window to show through. They are created as two separate layers. This prevents possible damage to the main graphics window and it also improves performance. Likewise, showing an overlayed window as transparent with graphics inside allows items in the user interface to be drawn over the main graphics window.  

 

Clearing and redrawing only the overlayed window is significantly faster than redrawing the main graphics window. This is how animated user-interface components can be drawn over 3D models or scenes.  

 

Support for quad-buffered stereo for shutter glasses  

The Quadro GPU family supports quad-buffered stereo, but GeForce GPU family does not. Quad-buffered stereo is a type of OpenGL functionality which does not depend on any special stereo hardware to show the effect. Two pictures, both double-buffered, are generated. Display is done alternately or interlaced, depending on the output device.  

 

Many professional applications like 3ds max, SolidWorks or StudioTools allow users to view models or scenes in three dimensions using a stereoscopic display. It can be done by a plug-in like in Solidworks, an application driver like MAXtreme in 3ds max, an external viewer like QuadroView for autocad-based products, or by the application itself. The use of stereoscopic display is to have an overview in complex wire frame constructions, making walkthroughs much more realistic and impressive or simply to improve the display of large 3D-scenes. Stereo support on Quadro GPU family significantly benefits professional applications that demand stereo viewing capabilities.

The signal turns green and blinks at a rate of once per second when GPS positioning is completed. If the battery is running flat, Bluetooth signal will indicate red when the power is turned on again. In case of low battery, turn off the device and recharge the battery. The Bluetooth signal is constantly red during recharge, and it will go off automatically once the battery is fully-charged. 

The cause might be incorrect COM Port settings. Most of the PDA map utility programs do search for the GPS device. But in this case, with the GPS device could not be found, it is suggested that you manually adjust the COM Port settings instead. 

GPS is actually used for outdoor positioning navigation, and it is difficult to receive satellite signal at home. In particular, it takes a while to get the positioning working for the very first time. Therefore positioning must be done outdoor where satellite signal can be received. 

For your first use after having not used the GPS system for a while might cause this problem. The GPS sytem therefore needs to be rebooted. Follow the steps below to reset "Cold Start" positioning under the "Navigator" application utility.  

1. Set the "Com Port" and "baud rate" to 4800. Click "OK".  

2. Select "Cold Start" and then click "OK". 

This might be caused by the unstable satellite signals. Weak signals usually resulted from allocation in heavily blocked areas which will affect the positioning of the car in the map. 

This might be caused by the incorrect COM Port settings. Most of the PDA map utility programs do search for the GPS device. But in this case with the GPS device cannot be found, it is suggested that you manually adjust the COM Port settings instead. 

The "Navigator" application utility can be directly installed into most of the PDAs. For PDA models with installation problems, search for file named "Navigator.ARM.CAB" within the installation files. Copy this file to any folders in your PDA, and install the "Navigator" application utility by clicking on the file directly. 

If the time duration for a proper positioning is longer than two weeks or the distance of positioning is greater than 500 km away from previous location, then the "cold start" procedure is undertaken.

When you switch to analog or S-video mode, please make sure that your audio  
cable is connected between tv card audio out and motherboard build-in audio in,  
and make sure the audio configuration in WinFast DTV is also set up as well to  
get audio stream. Please see pictures below for details.

If the local PC does not install SMC software or video decoder is not installed in the PC, the IE will pop up the message and ask user to download the ActiveX control for the very first time.  

ActiveX Control Download Indication :  

1. When a red cross appeared at the top-left corner of the ActiveX viewer(IE), what can I do?  

a) Make sure your local PC specification meets the bottom line requirement of SMC  

b) Go to the Internet Custom Level setting under Security setting tab in th browser's internet options. Set the security level to Medium-High (default) and check settings for ActiveX control and plug-ins, make sure none is disabled, change them to “Prompt”. Close the IE browser, and refer to IPCam webpage again.  

-If there is still a red cross at the top-left corner of the activex viewer, verify 2 system files are installed in local PC(msvcp71.dll, msvc71.dll in c:\windows\system32 folder).  

2. while opening the webpage, a banner appeared on the top of the page saying the browser had blocked the unsafe component, what can I do?  

a) Right-click on the banner, and select the option to unblock it.  

b) If the unblock option does not exist, go to the Internet Custom Level setting under Security setting in the browser's Internet Options. Set the security level to Medium-High (default) and check settings for ActiveX control and plug-ins, make sure none is disabled, change them to “Prompt”. Close the browser, and re-open the page.  

3. when no image is coming through, what can I do?  

a) Make sure your IPCam is in the same subnet as your local PC.  

b) Make sure your firewall and port-blocking antivirus programs are turned off.  

c) Go to the Start Menu, Run dxdiag, click on the Display tab, make sure DirectX is enabled(DirectX9).

3. You do not need to update the BIOS if you do not have this kind of issue.

Please try below suggestions about your system :  

1. Check if the green light is full in your application panel as the picture below.  

The signal strength is good when you get full green light.  

PS：If the signal lights are red as the picture below, it means your signal strength is bad.  

Please adjust your antenna until you get the full green light.  

2. What kind of antenna is in use ?  

2-1. In-door aerial or out-door aerial ?  

2-2. VHF support only or UHF/VHF both support ?  

2-3. Many cheap in-door antenna is VHF only.  

2-4. Our TV Tuner Receiving Frequency VHF 170~230MHz, UHF 470~862MHz.  

2-5. Check if your area have UHF channel.  

2-6. If you use VHF aerial but your area have UHF channel , then you can not get the UHF channel.  

3. If your signal full, or only one column less, however, with bad video quality, then please adjust your antenna(aerial)：  

3-1. If you use a In-door aerial , please try to move it beside the window until you can get smooth video playback.  

3-2. Or try to use a out-door aerial which supports both UHF and VHF to get good receive sensitivity (the capability of a DVB-T tuner card to receive weak signals)  

Conclusion：  

If you find the Leadtek Digital TV Tuner card stuttering or failing to load, maybe you need a better antenna. It may not be the problem with the card/driver/software after all.

A possible reason for this is that the GPS has not been used for a while and needs to be reset. Follow the steps below to reset the GPS for positioning.  

1. From the Navigator menu, tap Tools | Port Setting... and set the Port and BaudRate as described in “Configuring the settings” on page 15. Tap OK. 

2.Tap Tools | Command and select Cold Start. Click OK to reset the Leadtek 9559X.

WinFast Navigator™ is an application that you can use to test the GPS and verify your position. You need to use your own map utility to view your position on a map. After using Navigator, you have to disconnect the GPS device in order to release the COM port before using your PDA map utility program for positioning. Otherwise, the COM port will still be occupied by Navigator and the PDA map utility program will not find the GPS device. You can add an external GPS antenna to improve the GPSsignal reception.

The Leadtek 9559X is intended to be used for outdoor positioning and navigation because satellite signals cannot be received with sufficient signal strength indoors. Moreover, it takes a while for the GPS to complete the positioning the first time it is used. Hence, positioning must be done outdoors where satellite signals can be received properly.
