Leadtek Research Inc., a pioneer in GPS navigation and that has designed and developed GPS products based on SiRF's GPS solutions since 1997 and gone from being a GPS OEM module supplier to a world-class GPS total solution provider, today announced a partnership with locr GmbH to produce the new-generation GPS Data Logger LR 9553D combined with locr Geotagging. By using Geotagging, it enables users to sort and arrange photos without using long-winded descriptions or complicated time codes and through which an individual also gets to know the world through the cameras of other users.
Locr uses geotagging to show the photo and the place it was taken in aerial and satellite shots on Google Maps, and provides an overview of other photos taken from the proximity of the same place, which have been uploaded onto the site including the postal address, key word, and comments. If users need to know more about the place where the photo was taken, they only have a look at the Wikipedia articles also automatically assigned to the pictures. Locr's target groups are hobby and professional photographers as well as the users of camera-equipped cell phones. However, if the photographer had an external GPS data logger running while he or she was shooting the pictures, the software (locr GPS Photo 1.0) automatically adds the coordinates of the place of the shot to the EXIF header of the picture file.
The Leadtek LR9553D, based on cutting edge SiRFStar III technology, is a high performance, low power, 20-channel GPS data logger and receiver with wireless capability. It can record your tracking data from the received GPS signals. Slim, compact and lightweight, it provides users with enough space to store their tracking data including the altitude, GPS position, date and time for up to 240 hrs in continuous mode. It is not necessary to export the data until the memory is full. LR9553D also comes equipped with a mini USB interface both for easy charging and for users to export their recorded points without a hitch to Google earth and Google Maps (provided by locr)
Malte Schloen, CEO of locr GmbH declares enthusiastically, "Who hasn't had the problem before? Our goal is to put an end to this pictures chaos and to revolutionize the presentation and archiving of photos using automatically generated location information." "Leadtek GPS Data Logger can enrich a user's life by its leading technology and outstanding software provided by locr and we are pleased to partner digital camera makers."
