Leadtek Research Inc. , the exclusive workstation partner of NVIDIA in Asia except in Japan, demos the Serial Digital Interface (SDI) output, Frame Lock , and Genlock functionalities for advanced visualization applications with the new NVIDIA Quadro FX 4000SDI and FX 4400G at the Computex Taipei 2005 show.
Serial Digital Interface (SDI) is a digital, uncompressed high quality video format used for film and video post production and broadcast applications. The Quadro FX 4000 SDI graphics card converts composited video and graphics to uncompressed 8-bit or 10-bit SDI output. The workstation-based graphics solution enables various applications such as virtual-sets, sports, and weather news systems composite live video footage onto virtual backgrounds and sends the result to live video for TV broadcast. It also allows film production, post-production, and finishing professionals to preview the results of 3D compositing, editing, and color grading in real time on HD broadcast monitors.
The NVIDIA Quadro G-Sync board is an option card that delivers Frame Lock and Genlock functionality to unprecedented levels of industrial realism, visualization and collaborative capabilities. G-Sync can be combined with an NVIDIA Quadro FX 4400 super high-end graphics card to provide advanced multi-system visualization and multi-device film and video environments. The board is designed to fit into any available expansion slot within 6 inches of the Quadro FX 4400 G-Sync connector and derives all data and power directly from the FX 4400 graphics board.
Genlock allows the graphics output to be synchronized to an external source, which is typically film and broadcast video applications. Frame Lock allows the display channels from multiple workstations to be synchronized, creating one large "virtual display”. The "virtual display" can be driven by a multi-system cluster for performance scalability. For frame lock applications, the NVIDIA Quadro G-Sync has to be connected to one or more NVIDIA Quadro G-Sync boards.
The NVIDIA Quadro G-Sync board can be purchased bundled with a Quadro FX 4400 or separately for field upgrades.
Leadtek is also showcasing two NVIDIA SLI boards solution. The Quadro FX 4400, FX 3400, and FX 1400 professional graphics cards feature NVIDIA scalable link interface (SLI) technology, which harnesses the combined power of two NVIDIA Quadro FX graphics boards in one system. The power supplies maker SilverStone Technology runs NVIDIA SLI function with two Quadro FX 3400 boards at Computex event. Depending on the application, NVIDIA SLI can deliver as much as 2x the performance of a single GPU configuration for unparalleled working experiences.
